Storage Questions
HOW IT WORKS

Blue Crates makes it easy to reclaim your space. Just follow these simple steps:

Schedule

Log in to your account at Bluecrates.com and schedule a crate delivery in the time slot that works best for you. Just let us know how many crates, wardrobes, and oversized items you want us to store and we will come to you with the following: Crates, Wardrobes, Crate Locks, and Client Instructions.

Pack

Take your time and pack your things for us to pick up at your convenience within the next two weeks. After you have packed your items, schedule a pick-up and a member of our team will drop by to pick up your crates.

While you pack, be sure to take photos of your stored items and upload them to your account to easily keep track of your belongings.

If you like, we’ll wait twenty minutes for you to pack up your things and take them away to storage.

Pick-up

Once we pick up your crates, we will take them to our securely monitored facility where they will be held until you need your stuff back. To make sure you know your things are safe, we’ll send you an email the moment they arrive in our storage facility.

Don’t want to wait to schedule the pick-up? No problem. You can pack your crates while we wait for up to 20 minutes at no additional charge.

Swap

The swap allows you to have items in storage returned to you so that you can replace (Swap) them with things you want in storage.

Just sign in to your account, schedule a swap, and we will stop by with your crates, let you swap the items you want, and take your crates back to our facility. For example, when the sun comes out in June and you don’t want to see that parka and that stack of holiday sweaters for another six months, we’re happy to pick them up and drop off your summer shoes and cabana wear.

Return

If you ever want to have certain items returned and do not plan on replacing them with other items as part of a swap, we call this a return.  Your monthly account subscription will be updated accordingly.  Just sign in to your account and choose the crates you want to remove from our storage facility. We will bring you your crates at your scheduled time, give you time to unpack, and take back the empty crates when applicable.  

Final Return

If you ever want to take back all of your belongings and end your relationship with Blue Crates as a storage customer we call this a final return. If you however are only recalling a few of your items and still have items stored with Blue Crates we consider this a return.  

VAULTS™
What is a Vault™?

A vault is a 5’x5’x7’ climate-controlled and monitored storage space for you to store your larger belongings. The space can be expanded to meet your size needs in chunks of 5’x5’x7’ sections based on need.

How much is a Vault™?

Each Vault™ is $75 each per month.

How do I place a Vault™ order?

Simply visit the storage section of Blue Crates website and select the, “Store my Stuff” option. From there you will be able to reserve your vault space. Upon placing your order a Blue Crates representative will reach out to finalize your order, including delivery scheduling, pricing, and how many vaults you will need.

What if I do not know how many Vaults™ I need?

We know doing volumetric calculations in your head is a pain so don’t worry we will make the proper adjustment for you once we have reached out to schedule your delivery. If once we get your things to your vault and you do not need as many vaults as planned we will discount your order and vice versa.

Why when placing my order can I only reserve one Vault™?

This is to allow us to get a better feel for your actual space needs. Upon placing your order a Blue Crates storage concierge will reach out to get an understanding of what you wish to store. From there we will determine how many vaults you need and what delivery options are available to you.

How does Blue Crates Calculate my Vault™ Usage?

Blue Crates will work with you upon the initial order of your Vault to determine the best sizing for your needs. Any adjustment, up or down, will be made once your belongings are delivered to a Blue Crates facility. Any single item over 5’ in any two dimensions will automatically require an additional vault to accommodate your item.

How will I keep track of how much Vault™ space I have used?

Your Vault usage will be displayed on your account page.

How does Blue Crates maximize my Vault™?

To ensure you receive the maximum value with your vault space, Blue Crates professional movers and packers prioritize the organization of your items with safety and security in mind first and foremost. As a part of this consideration we make sure that your items are placed into your vault in a fashion that will ensure their safety all while maximizing your Vault capacity.

How do I get my things to my Vault™?

Blue Crates will arrange to have your items delivered directly to our facility and into your vault. Each delivery cost will vary depending on size, weight, and obstacles, But don’t worry we will always provide you a quote before your delivery.

How much does it cost to have my items delivered to my Vault™ or delivered from my Vault™ to me?

Each delivery is based on market rate with a $25 down payment to secure your initial pick up. All deliveries will be coordinated with you through your designated storage concierge and an estimate will be provided prior to your delivery.

How does Blue Crates protect my items in transit and in storage?

Our professional movers and packers will ensure that your things are properly handled while in transit and protected while in storage with blankets and wrap when applicable.

Can I deliver and retrieve things from my Vault™ myself?

Yes! If you prefer to do the heavy lifting yourself you are more than welcome to visit our facility to drop off and retrieve items. We will even stage your items to help facilitate the ease of delivery and drop-off. Delivering and retrieving items from your own vault is a FREE option and does not incur any cost to the user.

Can I recall items from my Vault™?

Yes, you can arrange to have items delivered from your vault to your home from one item to all items in your vault. Our Vault Concierge will coordinate with you the scheduling and pricing for your delivery.

How do I keep track of items in my Vault™?

The Vault™ comes with an exclusive online digital catalog with the ability to see and recall items from the Vault™ as needed.

PACKING & STORING
How big are your crates?

Blue Crates are made of high-quality, durable plastic with a weight capacity of 50 lbs. Crates: 27” Long x 17” Wide x 12.5” High. Each crate holds about 2.5 cubic feet. Wardrobes: 27” Long x 20.6” Wide x 48” High.

How many crates do I need? How much does each crate hold?

We’ll bring as many crates to your home as you think you might need. And don’t worry about ordering too many. We only charge you for the crates that you use. A single crate can hold 12 pairs of shoes, 30 shirts, and 10 sweaters, or generally about two dresser drawers’ worth of clothes.

Are there weight limits for each crate/wardrobe?

Yes. We work out, but mostly just cardio. We ask that each crate or wardrobe weigh no more than 50 pounds when we pick it up. 

Can I stuff the bottom of my wardrobe?

We ask that each wardrobe weigh no more than 50 pounds when we pick it up. Wardrobes are intended for those nice coats and garments that you’d rather hang than fold. Wardrobes are intended to store hanging clothes items and should not be used to store larger items that will not otherwise fit in a crate. Larger items that will not fit in a crate we prefer that you store those as an oversize item. 

The storage of larger items inside of a wardrobe may result in the repacking ($100 Repacking Fee) of times into an oversized or crate category and additional fees may apply. Blue Crates reserves the right to charge additional fees when a wardrobe box is used as a "Large Box" and not used as intended and or exceeds the 50lb weight limit. In short, a wardrobe box is not a larger box.

Can I use a wardrobe box as a large box?

NO!  As mentioned above, wardrobes are intended to store changeable clothing items.  Wardrobes that are overpacked and used as a box will be treated as 3 crates and an adjustment will be made to your subscription.  Overpacking a wardrobe and using it as a large box may also damage the container resulting in additional fees. 

What about items that don’t fit in crates/wardrobes? Can I keep those with Blue Crates too?

Absolutely. Items that will not fit into our crates or wardrobes can still be kept with Blue Crates. We would be more than happy to hang on to your bike, golf clubs, luggage, skis, and other over-sized items. Over-sized within reason of course. 

We also accept furniture and other larger items that do not fit within our Oversized category. 


What constitutes an oversized item?

 We consider an oversized item as anything that will not fit into one of our crates.  These items may be larger in size, but not large enough that one person cannot safely move the item up or down a flight of stairs by themselves. 


What about things that are too large for the Oversized category? 

We consider an item that is over 50lbs and or cannot be safely moved by one person up and down a flight of stairs to be larger than our oversized category requirement and would better suited to be stored in our Vaults™. If this is the case Blue Crates reserves the right to adjust delivery charges accordingly and transfer the item into a customer Vault™.


Do you take furniture and larger items that do not fit the Oversized category?

Yes, we take furniture items such as beds, dressers, and other common furniture items. These items are perfect for a Vault™. Our Vaults™ start in size from 5’x5’x7’ and are expandable based on item sizing and desired amount of storage for your need.


What happens if I underestimate how much I send to storage on the pickup of my storage order?

No worries. We understand that in the midst of packing you may have left something out of your order. We will simply add the item/s to your account upon arrival at our facility. Market rate delivery will be applied to all additional furniture items and large volume discrepancies.

Is there anything Blue Crates won’t take?

  • Delicate breakables
  • Hazardous items of any kind
  • Items that produce odors
  • Any item that may detrimentally affect anything that is outside of the crate/wardrobe (such as the facility, other crates, Blue Crate employees, etc...)
  • If you are wondering whether or not we are able to store an oversized item, please contact us at support@bluecrates and a member of our team will be in touch.  In general, an oversized item is an item that can easily be moved up and down a flight of stairs by a single individual. 
Do you take bikes?

Yes, we do. We will take your bike for $12.50/month.

What if my things won’t fit all the way in my crate?

We ask that you not overstuff your crates. It makes them hard to handle as well as the fact that your things are not fully protected by the lid of your crate. In the occurrence that you cannot fully close your crate within reason, Blue Crates reserves the right to charge you for an additional crate at the rate of $10.00 per occurrence. Remember that we provide all the crates that you think you will need in your order. If you do not use them you will not be charged for the crates not used. That said, we understand that sometimes those parka jackets just can’t be contained so we will cut you some slack, but for those obvious bulging crates we may not be able to let that slide.

Can I use my own containers or boxes?

We will take boxed items as well and consider them an oversized item. Of course, we do provide all the crates and wardrobes that you need for free. This way we can better ensure that your things will be safe and sound in transit and at our facilities. Each of our crates and wardrobes will be fitted with a locking unique identifier to ensure that your crates remain just as you packed them. If you want to keep your oversized luggage with us, we’re happy to take it for $12.50/month per bag. We will take boxed items as well and consider them an oversized item.

Will you wait while I pack my Crates?

Yes, we will! A Blue Crates Associate will wait for up to 20 minutes while you finish packing and cataloging your things. We do recommend that you begin this process in advance of our arrival to make sure you have enough time to snap photos and write a proper description for those lucky long johns. This will also save you on additional delivery charges when applicable if you select to have your things picked up at the same time as your dropoff.

How do I view my things once they are in storage?

Log in to your account to see your crates stored with Blue Crates, as well as any that you have ordered to be swapped or returned. Upload photos of your stored items along with a few notes about what’s inside. This way you can easily recall what you have in each crate and get back the things you need when you need them.

Where do you take my stuff? Where is your facility located?

Right here in Chicago. Our facility is climate controlled, monitored 24/7/365 and is located right here in Chicago. Your things are always less than 24 hours away.


Do not secure your crates and or wardrobes with heavy hard to remove adhesives such as duct tape. Doing so may result in a $100 excessive cleaning fee per occurrence at Blue Crates discretion. 

SCHEDULING, SWAPPING, & DELIVERY
What are your delivery hours?

We're available for pick up and delivery seven days a week during the following hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8am - 7pm
  • Friday: 8am - 6pm
  • Saturday: 10am - 4pm
  • Sunday: 11am - 4pm
Can I track the status of my crates?

Blue Crates will provide email and SMS notifications when we pick up or drop off your things at our facilities.

How do I swap the contents of my crates?

If you want to switch out seasonal items in your crates with new items, we’ll bring you your crates, let you swap out items and return them to storage. A $55.00 fee will be applied for each swap. There is an option to do your swap on one day while our drivers wait up to 20 minutes for the return of full crates. 

How do I get my things back?

If you ever want to take back your belongings and not swap them out with other things, the process is easy. Sign in to your account and choose the crates you want to remove from our facility. We will bring you your crates at your scheduled time, give you time to unpack, and take back the empty crates. You just pay a flat $75.00 rate return fee on all crates/wardrobes/oversized items delivered once items have been in storage with Blue Crates for over 6 months.  You are welcome to pick up your belongings at any time if you wish directly from one of our facilities as well. 

What if I only want a few of my things back?

No problem. Log in to your account and select the specific crate(s) that you want back. Then schedule a delivery and your things will be on their way. When you pack, be sure to take pictures of your stored items and upload them to your account to make sure you know where all of your items are.

After Blue Crates delivers my bins, how long can I hold onto them before Blue Crates picks them up?

That is really up to you. Once you receive your crates/wardrobes Blue Crates will begin charging you for your service pro-rated from the date of your dropoff.

What if I lose my crates/wardrobes or damage them?

If you lose your crates or they are damaged for whatever reason, we will consider this a crate purchase and you will be charged $50 per crate after the 30th day in your possession.

Can I store my Crates at my house?

You may store your crates at your house. Blue Crates are great for storing things around the house with the added benefit of our digital catalog you will know exactly what you are storing at all times.

Can I leave things with a doorman?

Yes, you can, if it’s okay with your doorman. Please select this option on the user dashboard when setting up your pickup/delivery.

Blue Crates dropped off my crate/wardrobe order but I would like to have them (and the rest of my order) picked up in stages. Is this possible?

Yes, it is. We want you to have an adequate amount of time to organize, sort, and pack your possessions. This will incur an additional delivery fee of $55.00 per occurrence after your initial pickup. Blue Crates reserves the right to apply market rate delivery for large orders or any delivery including furniture items.

Blue Crates dropped off some of my crates but I would like to have them picked up in stages. Is this possible?

Yes, it is. We want you to have an adequate amount of time to organize, sort, and pack your possessions. This will incur an additional delivery fee of $55.00 per occurrence after your initial pickup.

When can I get my crates? How quickly can I get my things back?

When you order crates, you will be prompted to select a delivery window. Normal delivery times are within 24 hours from the time of the request, but depending on driver availability we may be able to deliver your things to you sooner. We deliver 7 days a week. We are happy to drop empty crates off with your doorman if it isn’t a problem at your building. Just be sure to let us know when you schedule your crate delivery.

What if there's an emergency and I need my things now?

Normal delivery times are within 24 hours from the time of the request, but depending on driver availability we may be able to get your things to you sooner. In addition, you can always email us at support@bluecrates.com and we’ll do what we can to get you your things when you need them.

I moved. Can I have my crates delivered to my new address?

We don’t see why not. As long as you are located within our delivery area of Chicago we would be happy to deliver your things to a new address. If you’ve moved out of our area, we’re sad to see you go but send us an email and we’ll see about getting you your things. Additional fees may apply if you are returning your items within the first month of storage.

Can I change or cancel my appointment (Delivery)?

You may change or cancel your appointment by reaching out to Blue Crates via help@bluecrates.com to request a change to your delivery date and time.  We only ask that you give us notice of at least 48 hours to avoid any additional fees.  Changes made within 24 hours of your initial scheduled delivery will incur a $25 rescheduling fee.  In the event you miss your delivery without notice, you will be charged a missed delivery fee of $50.

What if I don't show for my appointment?

If at the time of your appointment, you are not available or we are not able to access or find the address for your scheduled appointment, and you have not rescheduled or canceled, we will wait 20 minutes while we try to contact you. If after 20 minutes we still have not made contact with you, you will be charged a missed delivery fee of $50.

How frequently can I swap out my things?

You can swap out your things as many times as you would like for a $55.00 delivery fee per occurrence. 

PRICING & BILLING

What are your prices?

Blue Crates offers the following prices per each crate and wardrobe on a monthly subscription plan.

  • Crates: $15/month
  • Wardrobes: $20/month
What are your prices for oversized/miscellaneous items?

Blue Crates will take certain oversized and miscellaneous items that will not fit into a crate or a wardrobe.

  • Bike: $12.50/month
  • Golf Clubs: $12.50/month
  • Luggage: $12.50/month
  • Skis/Snowboard: $12.50/month

If you have an oversized or furniture item that is not listed, contact us at support@bluecrates.com and we will happily discuss options with you.

As a general rule if you would feel comfortable walking down four flights of stairs with the item in question by yourself we will accept it as an oversized item. Larger items will be found in our “Vault™” category.


What are your prices for furniture items and larger items that do not fit within the oversized category?

Furniture items are best stored within our Vault™ offering.  The Vault™ is a 5'x5' storage space designated for your items at our facility.  Each vault is offered at $75/month for each 5'x5' section.  Your vault is expandable based on your need so you can store anything from a bunch of boxes on up to your entire house.  Once your order is placed, your Vaults™ concierge will reach out to schedule delivery and coordinate exactly how much space you need.   Delivery is available starting at $25 per trip based on an hourly rate.  You are slo free to deliver your items to our facility is you would prefer. 


Will Blue Crates raise prices on Me?

Blue Crates reserves the right to change pricing based on market rates and will notify users of any increase with a minimum of a 30 day notice.

Can you go over the details of pickup and delivery pricing?

Delivery of new crates and wardrobes is free. Pickup of crates and wardrobes is also free. All swaps performed with a separate dropoff date and time of the pickup will incur a $55.00 delivery fee. 


If you would like to end your relationship with Blue Crates, while we will be sad to see you go, we will deliver your crates as part of a final return on the following schedule:

Return of Subscriber Property Fee Schedule (Final Return)

  • Returned within the first 6 months of initial storage agreement: $150.00 Short-Term Storage Fee, plus the remaining balance on 6 months of storage. In addition, the market rate delivery fee applies. Please call a Blue Crates representative with questions. 
  • $75.00 flat termination fee on returns stored longer than 6 months upon the termination of agreement (Return of all stored items) plus market rate delivery charge ($25 minimum).

Final Returns

When you return items from your account your subscription will automatically reduce to reflect the items that you still have in storage. 

If you elect to have things returned within the first three months of your storage term you will be billed for the entirety of your initial storage order regardless of whether you return a majority of your stored items or not. For example, if you have ten items stored with Blue Crates and elect to return nine of them within the first 90 days you will still be charged for all ten items through a 90 day period. Market rate delivery may apply. 


Can I have my things returned within the 1st month of Storage to a new address?

You may have your things returned within the 1st month of storage service to a new address. You will be responsible for 6 months worth of storage, a $150 termination fee, and market-rate delivery will also be applied to all deliveries. Please contact us for an estimate on short-term storage by emailing info@bluecrates.com

How do I update my billing and contact information?

Log in to your account and edit your information under the ‘Settings’ button.

What if I don't need all of the crates that Blue Crates dropped off at my place?

Not a problem. We will only charge you for the crates that you put items in and keep with us. We will happily come by and pick up your unused crates at no cost to you provided you return them within two weeks of receiving them.

What happens if I miss a payment?

Don’t worry, we won’t start wearing your clothes. We will charge a $10 late fee if payment is not received within 5 days of the due date. 

If after 10 days we have not received your payment in full you will be charged 9% interest compounded daily until full payment is made. 

If after 30 days, you still have not settled up, then we will take ownership of your belongings and interest will continue to accrue at the aforementioned rate. We will continue to hold on to your items for up to 90 days, during which time you can re-establish good standing with your account by paying the total amount due. After 90 days, Blue Crates shall, in their sole discretion and option, decide to keep or discard stored items.

In the event you fail to make payment within the first 5 days of your accounts due date any and all past or present discounts, deals, promotions, coupons, etc.. will be automatically voided. Any amounts due as a result will be automatically billed to your account.

Can I cancel my order after I have already received my crates?

That is not a problem at all. Just let us know and we will come to pick up the crates. Please note that we will charge you for one month of service with Blue Crates.  You may also be charged additional delivery fees associated with a canceled delivery request. 

When will I be charged for using Blue Crates?

Blue Crates will begin charging you for our services once our crates/wardrobes have arrived at our facility. All monthly service charges in the future will commence on the 1st of the month. Your first month of service will be pro-rated and each additional month will be billed on the first of the month.

Am I responsible for returning clean crates and wardrobes after my use?

Yes, you are responsible to return clean and undamaged crates to Blue Crates once you are done with your crate rental. While Blue Crates does clean each and every crate and wardrobe that comes back, you are responsible for returning your crates and wardrobes clean and undamaged within reason. Failure to do so can incur a crate/wardrobe replacement fee of $45 each per crate and $50 each per wardrobe and/or an excessive cleaning fee of $100. Returning crates/wardrobes in the following condition will incur an excessive cleaning fee of $100:

Duct tape or other hard to remove adhesives on or in your crates or wardrobes

Stains

Liquid residue

INSURANCE
What kind of insurance do you provide?

Blue Crates provides a basic protection plan on all storage orders and it is included free of charge with each order.  This plan covers $0.60 (sixty cents) per pound for lost or damaged items up to 2000 lbs under our basic (included) protection plan. If additional insurance was purchased and receipted for, additional coverage amounts may apply. 

The contents of your crates are generally included in your renter’s or homeowner’s insurance policy (or can be added for a nominal fee) and we suggest you check with your insurance agent.  Note: The contents of packed luggage are not included in our protection plan. Blue Crates disclaims all liability for anything you put in your own suitcases.

Moves Questions
HOW IT WORKS

Blue Crates Moving Rental is the most convenient and affordable way to take the hassle out of moving. Instead of trudging down to your local hardware store to buy a bunch of cardboard boxes that you have to make, breakdown, and throw away, just use Blue Crates. Our industrial strength crates and wardrobes allow you to order online and have everything brought right to your door, usually for less than the price of cardboard boxes. When you’re finished with your move, we’ll come to your new place and pick up our empty crates and wardrobes. We also offer the option to have Blue Crates pick up anything you wish and take it to our storage facility to be stored.  As a moves customer, you receive this service free of charge for the 1st month.  In addition to being affordable and convenient, our crates and wardrobes are much more durable than those collapsing boxes too, making your things safer in transit. Blue Crates is also an eco-friendly alternative to using cardboard boxes for your move.

Schedule and Dropoff

Select the Crate/Wardrobe package that is right for your move. Our packages are designed to provide you with the proper amount of crates and wardrobes for the size of home you’re moving to. We also allow you to add crates and wardrobes to your package as needed. Once you have selected a package that’s right for you, simply schedule a time for Blue Crates to drop off your crates and wardrobes at your current residence.

Pack

Pack your crates and wardrobes as you see fit. We recommend testing the weight of your crate here and there to make sure that they aren't too heavy to lift. Our crates are spacious and strong so be careful not to overpack.


Label/Catalog

Ditch the labels and tape and utilize Blue Crates digital catalog during your move so you know exactly what is in each of your crates and wardrobes.  This makes it super easy for you once you arrive at your new home to unpack.  Need to store things as you start to settle in?  Not a problem.  Select from your crates/wardrobes at the touch of a button from your digital catalog and we will come by and store your things free of charge so you can move in at your own pace.   

Pick-up

Once you have moved into your new place, Blue Crates will come by and pick up the empty crates and wardrobes in your respective package.  Each of our moves packages comes with a two-week rental period allowing you enough time to pack and unpack without feeling rushed.  If you feel that you need more time just let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your schedule. 

As a Blue Crates moves customer you have access to a free month of storage to help you get settled.  Below is a breakdown of our storage option after your move. 

Storage Upon Pickup

After your move, Blue Crates will come to your new place and pick up your empty crates and wardrobes on your schedule. Simply log in to your account page and schedule the pickup of all or a portion of your crates. If you feel that some of the things you had at your old place don’t really work for your new space, but you would like to keep them, Blue Crates will be happy to take them to our secure, climate-controlled facility and store them for you. As a moves customer, Blue Crates will provide you with a free month of storage to be applied to anything you would like to store with us.  After the first month, traditional storage rates apply.  For more info on storing your extra belongings, please visit www.bluecrates.com.

Pick-Up Outside Coverage Area

In the event that the subscriber's crates and or wardrobes are to be picked up outside of Blue Crates coverage area, Blue Crates will pick up those items at market rate delivery pricing.

How big are your crates?

Blue Crates are made of high-quality, durable plastic with a weight capacity of 50 lbs. Crates: 27” Long x 17” Wide x 12.5” High. Each crate holds about 2.5 cubic feet. Wardrobes: 27” Long x 20.6” Wide x 48” High. A single crate can hold 12 pairs of shoes, 30 shirts, and 10 sweaters, or generally about two dresser drawers’ worth of clothes. A single wardrobe can hold 20 hanging suits or dresses or 10 winter coats.


How much space will all the crates and wardrobes take up in my home?

All of our crates stack within each other.  We typically deliver stacks of 10-15 crates.  These stacks can easily be placed in a corner making it easy to pull from the stack when you are ready to pack each crate.  Once packed, the crates can also be stacked on top of each other.  This helps keep your pace free of creates, allowing you to pack in an organized fashion.

We also offer crate dollies that are perfect for moving crate stacks around.  

How many crates do I need? How much does each crate hold?

Our packages are designed to provide you with the proper amount of crates and wardrobes for the size of the home you are moving. We also allow you to add crates and wardrobes to your package as needed. We’ll bring as many crates to your home as you think you might need. Are there weight limits for each crate/wardrobe?

Yes. Please limit each crate or wardrobe to 50 pounds.

Can I stuff the bottom of my wardrobe?

Sort of. We ask that each wardrobe weigh no more than 50 pounds. Wardrobes are intended for those nice coats and garments that you’d rather hang than fold.

What are your delivery hours?

We're available for pick up and delivery seven days a week during the following hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8am - 7pm
  • Friday: 8am - 6pm
  • Saturday: 10am - 4pm
  • Sunday: 11am - 4pm
Do I have to be home to accept the delivery of my crates and wardrobes?

Yes, we ask that someone 18 years of age or older is present to collect your order.

Is there a delivery charge?

No, the cost of delivery is included in your package.  

Is there a pickup fee?

No, there is no fee for the pick up of your empty crates and wardrobes when picked up with Blue Crates coverage area.

What if I need more than the allotted 2 weeks time my package includes?

No problem. Let us know how long you will need our crates and wardrobes for your move and we will be happy to accommodate your request. Additional charges apply.

Can I come to pick up my crates and wardrobes at Blue Crates?

No, the delivery is free so there is no need for you to pick up your crates and wardrobes on your own.

Can I leave things with a doorman?

Yes, you can, if it’s okay with your doorman. Please select this option on the user dashboard when setting up your pickup.

How soon can I have my crates and wardrobes dropped off?

Depending on delivery availability we should be able to honor your request the day after you schedule.

Can I change or cancel my appointment (Delivery)?

You may change or cancel your appointment by reaching out to Blue Crates via help@bluecrates.com to request a change to your delivery date and time. We only ask that you give us notice of at least 48 hours to avoid any additional fees. Changes made with 24 hours of your initial scheduled delivery will incur a $25 rescheduling fee. In the event you miss your delivery without notice, you will be charged a missed delivery fee of $50.

What if I don't show for my appointment?

If, at the time of your appointment, you are not available or we are not able to access or find the address for your scheduled appointment, and you have not rescheduled or canceled, we will wait 20 minutes while we try to contact you. If after 20 minutes we still have not made contact with you, you will be charged a missed delivery fee of $50 plus the cost of mileage and handling.

Can I replace wardrobes with crates and vice-versa?

Yes, you may, within reason. Just let us know what you need by emailing help@bluecrates.com or calling us at 312-888-0367.


What are the prices for moving supplies?

      • Recommend 1 for every 15 Crates

How much are pickup and delivery?

Delivery of new crates and wardrobes is inclusive. Pickup of crates and wardrobes is also inclusive.

What happens if I go over my allotted two-week rental period?

This is not a problem at all. Moving takes time and we understand that. If you elect to keep your crates longer than the two-week rental you will be charged at traditional storage rates.  As a storage customer, you are afforded the ability to catalog your items as well as have Blue Crates deliver any portion of your moves package to your new location directly from your account page. The following rental rates apply and will be applied as a prorated amount for your first calendar month.  See the breakdown below.

What happens if I miss my scheduled dropoff or pickup?

If for some reason you think you are going to miss your scheduled delivery we ask that you provide us with 24 hours notice.  Failure to do so will result in a missed delivery fee starting at $50 depending on delivery rate.

When will I be charged for using Blue Crates?

Blue Crates will begin charging you for your moves package as soon as your order is placed. If you elect to keep your crates past your two-week rental period your account will be billed for the rest of the calendar month and then on the 1st of each month.


Can I store my things with Blue Crates as part of my move?

Yes, as a moves customer you receive a free month of storage to use the help you get settled into your new home.  During your move, utilize our digital catalog to take photos and add descriptions to each one of your crates/wardrobes.  Upon arrival at your new home and before the pickup of your package you can select from any one of your crates/wardrobes to be picked up to be stored when we come to pick up your moves package.  

Am I responsible for returning clean crates and wardrobes after my use?

Yes, you are responsible to return clean and undamaged crates to Blue Crates once you are done with your crate rental.  While Blue Crates does clean each and every crate and wardrobe that comes back you are responsible for returning your crates and wardrobes clean and undamaged within reason.  Failure to do so can incur a crate/wardrobe replacement fee of $45 each per crate and $50 each per wardrobe and/or an excessive cleaning fee of $100.  Returning crates/wardrobes in the following condition will incur an excessive cleaning fee of $100:

  • Duct tape or other hard to remove adhesives on or in your crates or wardrobes
  • Stains
  • Liquid residue
