Moving Essentials for you Next Move

Moving is never fun.  With all of the hassle associated with packing up all you own and finding someone to move things for you or even having to move things yourself, the task of moving is never a fun one.  Here are a few tips, courtesy of Blue Crates will help make your next move much easier than your last.

Cleaning Supplies

Part of the fun of moving is the fact that you are moving into a new home.  To make sure you get to experience this feeling at its height it is essential for you to make sure that the place that you are moving into is nice and clean.  Having cleaning supplies on hand is a must.  Not only will this help you clean your current space and get it ready for its next occupants, but once you are in your new place the last thing you ant to do is place your things in a dirty environment.

Snacks & Water

Having a few snacks on hand will help you power through what is often a long day.  If you have little ones in the mix they are also a great way to keep the day going without having to take long breaks.  You are going to need all the energy you can get so having healthy grab and go snacks on hand like trail-mix, granola bars, and fruit on hand are perfect energy boosters for your long day.

With the lifting and packing it goes without saying that you will get thirsty, so make sure that you have plenty of access to water.  Water bottles and bottled drinks a re great for ensuring that you have access to water when you move for those times that the water may be off in transition or when the fridge is already on the truck.

Don't forget the candy either.  Treat yourself!

Toiletries

Having some essentials toiletries on hand is a good idea.  It is best to think of the first night in your new home as almost like a stay in a hotel.  You will be tired upon arrival and unpacking and the last thing you want to do is have to rummage through things to find your daily essentials.  Having a toiletry kit at the ready will be a welcome sight when it is time to hit the sack.

Create a Moving Checklist

Having a checklist of things that you will need to take care of for your next moe is a great way to stay organized during the entire process.  Break things up into segments.  For example, there are items that you will want to take care of before, during, and after your move.  List are always a great way to stay ahead of the curve.  Here a re a few things to consider before your move:

  1. Plan on getting estimates from movers weeks before your move.  Pricing can fluctuate greatly between moving companies so it is in your best interest to shop around.
  2.   Secure your moving crates a week before your move to give yourself ample time to pack.

Label Things

Labeling your things will save you a lot of time on the back end when you arrive at your new place.  This will help your movers properly place your items in their correct room/area so you do not have to sort through everything upon your arrival.

Moving Crates vs. Boxes

Using cardboard boxes is a real pain.  They are flimsy and are hard to handle during your move.  Blue Crates moving packages are a much better alternative to cardboard boxes.  They cost the same as cardboard boxes to rent, are much more durable, and with handles on each are very easy to move about.  Blue Crates are also stackable making it very easy for you to pull and pack instead of having to fold and tape boxes for hours. Cardboard is also bad for the environment while Blue Crates are a nice eco-friendly moving solution.
